American politician Bernie Sanders is in the center of attention after a photograph was taken on the steps of the Senate in Washington ( United States) last Sunday. He can be seen sitting nonchalantly with his legs crossed and looking tired. And for good reason: he had just completed about fifteen hours of voting sessions alongside the other senators.

“Great Vote-a-rama energy with Bernie Sanders on the steps of the entrance to the Senate, at 13 hours,” tweeted photographer Kent Nihismura, author of the image for the Los Angeles Times. An important political figure in the United States, close to the left-wing social-democratic movement, Bernie Sanders obviously lived with great intensity the period of the “Vote-a-rama”, a procedure which allows senators to propose an unlimited number amendments to measures related to the budget.

A new cliché that becomes a meme

During this vote during the night from Saturday to Sunday, the senators were gathered to debate Joe Biden’s big bill on climate and health. As BFM TV reports, Bernie Sanders has stepped up to defend the rights of the elderly.

The photograph was widely shared on social networks, with many Internet users having fun diverting it or saluting the courage of the politician. This isn’t the first time the senator has made a name for himself on Twitter. In January 2021, Bernie Sanders sparked hilarity after a photo taken during Joe Biden’s inauguration. The octogenarian appeared there curled up in a big down jacket and wearing thick mittens.
